Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin is currently working on a project
about the founders of social networking site Facebook and he has begun his
research by creating his own Facebook account.
It may sound like a piece of cake to those used to accessing
the Internet on a daily basis for a variety of uses but Aaron Sorkin confesses that
there is much he does not know about Facebook.
Lucky for him his researcher, Ian Reichbach, started the
page for him, “because my grandmother has more Internet savvy than I do and she’s
been dead for 33 years,” the screenwriter joked.
“I honestly don’t know how this works, which is why I’m here,”
Sorkin wrote on his page, inviting anyone interested to offer their comments or
to ask their questions should they doubt his true identity.
As to other accounts on Facebook from people claiming to be
him, the Hollywood screenwriter said he found
it “flattering more than creepy.”
Sorkin is writing the film for Sony and producer Scott Rudin
and says he has “a fairly specific idea of what the first 15 pages of the
screenplay will be and no idea what will happen on pages 16 thru 130.”
Sorkin is the creator of political drama “The West Wing,”
starring Martin Sheen as the president of the United States. He also created “Studio
60 on the Sunset Strip” and is the screenwriter of “Charlie Wilson’s War,”
starring Tom Hanks.
Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg in February 2004
while he was studying at Harvard
University. The project
was initially aimed for use by Harvard students and membership was gradually
expanded to other colleges in the Ivy League and then to all university
students, high school students and then people from all over the world.
