Does a two-hour finale represent a proper goodbye for
“Boston Legal?” Although it may be hard for the show’s fans to imagine an
appropriate ending case, they have no other choice but to accept the facts.
After five seasons of running, five Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe, “Boston
Legal” will see Denny Crane (William Shatner) and Alan Shore
(James Spader) share the already famous balcony for the last time.
The ABC law drama is scheduled to deliver its final plea
tonight at 9 during a two-episode finale that should concentrate on the court’s
most famous couple.
The partners gave life to one of the most gifted, charming, innovative
and long-lasting pairs on television, with some help from creator and executive
producer David E. Kelley, who offered difficult moments an engaging magical
touch.
“Boston Legal’s” territory featured more or less uncanny
figures that exposed their eerie nature in a tempting manner so as to offer
viewers something new and interesting at the same time. The cases included the
defending of a cannibal, a religious client who filed a lawsuit against God for
taking away her husband, as well as a plaintiff who complained that the company
that had promised her to turn her mom’s ashes into a diamond offered her a cubic
zirconium in the long run. I wish I were a lawyer!
Since “Boston Legal” had never obtained big ratings, ABC
intended to pull the plug on the series in May. However, the network eventually
added a 13-episode dispatch, whose outcome can be examined tonight.
