No, Wal-Mart doesn’t sell or collect scorpions. It just
happened that one scorpion had managed to find its way behind a watermelon and,
when a girl tried to pick the watermelon up, the scorpion stung her.
12-year-old girl Megan Templeton got stung in the
Barboursville Wal-Mart when she was picking up a watermelon from a bin. Maybe
the scorpion thought it was a fruit, that’s why it hid there.
The kid was taken to a hospital. I am happy to inform that
both girl and scorpion are ok. I think the scorpion is very sorry. And I bet
that Wal-Mart employees are more than sorry.
Richard Coyle, senior director of international affairs for
Wal-Mart said he was very concerned and that an incident like this never
happened before. Well, there’s always a first time for everything.
According to The Associated Press, Coyle said that Wal-Mart employees
thought that the scorpion came with the shipment of the watermelons. I bet it
wanted to travel a little, get to see the world.
This unfortunate event with a happy end was almost
unbelievable to the girl’s father. When the kid told him that she was stung by
a scorpion, her father hesitated in believing her.
Asked about the sting, Megan bravely said that it hurt a
little bit more than a bee sting.
