Los Angeles - Dwyane Wade puts on a show every time he takes the court. And it often has an encore performance.
Wade tied a career high with 50 points and added 10 rebounds and nine assists Saturday as the host Miami Heat outlasted the Utah Jazz, 140-129, in triple overtime.
Jermaine O'Neal added 28 points for Miami (36-29), which staged huge comebacks in regulation and the first extra session to improve to 5-0 in overtime this season.
"I think our fans now are getting a little bit spoiled," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "We're trying to win them back and give them something to remember every time out. I think they got their money's worth."
Wade set career highs for baskets (19), shots (39) and minutes (52) while becoming the Heat's all-time leading scorer, passing Alonzo Mourning. His stunning performance came just five days after Wade had 48 points, 12 assists and the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer of a 130-127 double-overtime win at Chicago.
"Just another day at the office," joked Wade.
It was looking like a bad day as Miami trailed, 107-100, with under a minute to go. But rookie Mario Chalmers made two free throws, Wade found Udonis Haslem for a dunk and James Jones made three free throws to force overtime.
In that stretch, Russian Andrei Kirilenko committed two fouls, Paul Millsap had a dunk blocked by O'Neal and the Jazz failed to secure the rebound of a missed free throw.
"We did a how-to on how to lose a basketball game," said Utah guard Deron Williams, who had 30 points and 13 assists.
A three-pointer by Turkey's Mehmet Okur and a three-pointer and jumper by Kyle Korver gave the Jazz a 115-107 lead midway through the first overtime. But Utah didn't score again, and Wade had an assist and two buckets before Haslem tied it with two free throws.
"There's an element of resiliency with this team that we've talked about all year," Spoelstra said. "There's a toughness. They just don't give up."
Wade had six points in the second overtime, which featured five ties, the last one at 125-125 on a jumper by Williams with three seconds left. Wade missed at the buzzer.
The third overtime belonged to the Heat as Wade, O'Neal and Chalmers scored four points apiece. The Jazz made just 1-of-7 shots with four turnovers.
"We made them work for everything," said Wade, who added four steals and two blocks. "It was a total team effort."
"We should have won it an hour ago," said Korver, who scored a season-high 25 points.
Chalmers scored 23 points and Haslem added 12 and 12 rebounds for Miami, which has won five of six.
Carlos Boozer had 20 points and 13 rebounds, Okur scored 13 points and Kirilenko added 12 for Utah, which has lost two in a row following a 12-game winning streak.
After the marathon contest, the Heat boarded a plane for Philadelphia and another afternoon game Sunday.
"I'm ready to go lay down," Wade admitted.
