The Phoenix Suns lost their second game in a row at the hands of the Miami Heat, who got an early lead and fought to keep it and eventually win 117-113 on Monday.
Dwyane Wade was the leading scorer of the game. He finished with 31 points on 13-of-21 shooting from the field and also got 3 steals. Teammate Shaquille O'Neal dropped in 18 and grabbed 11 rebounds. Out of seven players that were involved in this game six finished in double figures. Udonis Haslem contributed 21 points and 12 boards, while Dorell Wright chipped in 16 points and 12 rebounds. Davis and Quinn had 12 apiece.
"I'm getting a lot more comfortable with my game, especially with my pull-up jumper," said Wade, who scored 16 in Miami's 40-point first quarter. "I wanted to come out and be real aggressive and put some pressure on them."
Miami shot 58.8 percent from the field and held a 46-29 edge in rebounds. They scored 40 points in the first quarter and led 67-53 at halftime.
The Heat managed to win back-to-back games for the first time this season. The 2006 NBA champions are now in the last in the Eastern Conference's Southeast Division.
On the other side, Amare Stoudemire, Shawn Marion, Raja Bell and Grant Hill each had 19 points for Phoenix, while Steve Nash had 11 points and 14 assists.
"You've got to keep moving forward and not worry about what's behind you. It's never that bad and it's never that great. We got beat. We didn't play well enough,” said Nash downplaying the significance of the loss.
The heat carried an 11-point lead in the final quarter. Despite making five 3-pointers, three by Grant Hill and two by Steve Nash, in the final 1:10 the Suns could get no closer than 111-108.
