WANTED: Lindsay Lohan (Update 1)

The arrest warrant issued on Lindsay Lohan’s name was apparently a misunderstanding. Consequently, the actress won’t appear in court on Monday. Her lawyer’s presence will be enough.

Here’s why the arrest warrant was issued for Lindsay Lohan:

The “Mean Girls” star has been involved in an alcohol ed program over the past year and was in full compliance with her probation rules. But the actress reportedly decided to switch programs, TMZ reported.

Lohan was probably late or missed a class at the program. She allegedly said this happened because paparazzi prevented her from arriving in time. The Beverly Hills court was informed about Lohan’s absence and the arrest warrant was immediately issued.

The Beverly Hills Superior Court issued an arrest warrant for Lohan on Friday. The warrant is connected to a DUI and hit-and-run case two years ago, according to the Beverly Hills police officials. The 22-year-old actress is currently serving a three-year probation term for another DUI case she was involved in.

According to a statement released by the Beverly Hills police, the circumstances of the DUI case from which this arrest warrant is stemming are not yet available.

"It is our hope that Ms. Lohan will surrender herself so that this matter can be resolved in a timely manner," the police statement wrote.

The “Mean Girls” actress spent 84 minutes in jail on the DUI charge back in November 2007.
The actress was last spotted by TMZ while she was leaving the Chateau Marmont with some of her friends. When TMZ reporters asked her about the arrest warrant, Lohan avoided an answer and drove away in her car.

In 2007, after she crashed her Mercedes into a tree, the actress pleaded guilty or no contest. However, soon after that incident, Lohan chased the mother of a friend in a SUV on the streets of Santa Monica.

The actress would most likely go to jail if she violates the probation terms which include drug tests and meetings with her probation officer. However, her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, should have no problem having the arrest warrant canceled.
