WALL-E and Wanted Top This Weekend’s Box-Office Charts

Pixar’s ‘WALL-E’ was this weekend’s box-office debut hit earning $62.5 million in ticket sale. Wanted came second, the latest Angelina Jolie movie managing to unearth $51.1 million.

‘WALL-E’ is the story of a robot that is left to take care of the garbage that remains on the abandoned Earth in 2700. The clumsy robot is always getting into trouble because of his curios nature and is unhappy because he is alone.

But everything changes for him as he meets Eve, an alien search robot, and the two fall in love. It’s soon that Eve figures out that WALL-E has found the key to Earth’s future, and they both leave to announce this to the humans.

The movie opened big with 3992 runs and managed to make a lot of kids come to the theaters and bring their parents with as well, making it the third best debut of a Pixar Movie, after ‘The Incredibles’ in 2004 and Finding ‘Nemo’ in 2003.

However, the movie who managed to get the biggest audience per screening was ‘Wanted’. After 3175 runs, more that 800 runs less than ‘WALL-E’, the movie managed to earn more that $51 million, and became both Angelina Jolie’s biggest box office hit, and the third best debut for a R-rated movie, right behind ‘The Matrix Reloaded,’ which made $91.7 million, and ‘300,’ which earned 70.9 million.

The other movies that made this weekend’s box office top 10 were Get Smart, Kung Fu Panda, The Incredible Hulk, The Love Guru, Indiana Jones, which still clings in at 7th place, The Happening, Sex and the City and You Don’t Mess With the Zohan.
