Vanessa Hudgens Not Backed by Disney

Disney originally said young Vanessa Hudgens has learned her lesson after her nude pics scandal but now it seems the studio has had a change of heart.

When 18-year-old cutie actress Vanessa Hudgens became the center of a nude pics scandal in early September, many thought this was the end of her career – at least the end of her career with Disney.

Vanessa starred in “High School Musical” and “High School Musical 2,” alongside Zac Efron (her boyfriend prior to the controversy) and Ashley Tisdale, aired on the Disney Channel in 2006 and 2007, respectively.

OK! Magazine reports exclusively that sources close to Disney are aware that the studio intends to interrupt its collaboration with Vanessa. She will allegedly not appear in the third installment of “High School Musical.”

“Disney finally decided that they don’t want her back,” an insider told OK!. “They feel that as long as Zac Efron is in the movie, all will be fine. He’s the real star, the household name and, most importantly, he comes without baggage.”

While Disney has not made an official statement yet, things sounded different in September. After photos of the starlet mysteriously appeared on the Internet, Vanessa called the incident “unfortunate” and said:

“This was a photo which was taken privately. It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate that this has become public” and a more elaborate “I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends.”

Disney soon issued a statement saying, “Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment. We hope she's learned a valuable lesson.”

Both Vanessa and co-star Zac Efron, her boyfriend at the time, were reportedly in negotiations to star in “High School Musical 3.” Disney Channel spokeswoman Patti McTeague confirmed negotiations were ongoing.

Additional photos surfaced about a week later, showing Vanessa next to a girl, both sticking out their tongues and looking silly and childish. After this second incident, the 18-year-old canceled a scheduled appearance on Jay Leno’s “The Tonight Show,” fueling rumors that she was too embarrassed to risk being questioned over the situation by the show’s host.

She blamed her absence on a scheduling conflict.

OK! also reports that its source revealed one of the Cheetah Girls, Adrienne Baillon, 23, or possibly 23-year-old Sabrina Bryan, could take Vanessa's place. “The producers think that after Dancing With the Stars, Sabrina will be more famous than Vanessa.”

Vanessa’s publicist, Jill Fritzo, has not offered any details about who took the pictures, in what circumstances and how they slipped out onto the Internet.
