With the “High School Musical” franchise over, young actress Vanessa Hudgens is looking for a new job on the set of the upcoming “Twilight” sequel.
Rumor has it that Vanessa Hudgens, who played Gabriella Montez in Disney’s “High School Musical,” auditioned for the part of Leah Clearwater, one of the girls in the Quileute tribe who is the only female shapeshifter just like Jacob Black.
According to MTV, the news came from actress Ashley Greene at an afterparty for the 66th Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night. Greene, who is set to reprise her role as Alice Cullen in “New Moon,” revealed she would be glad to have Hudgens join the cast.
“I think she'd be great,” she claimed.
Adding Hudgens to the project could only prove to be a smart thing for Summit, since the actress is pretty popular among teenagers, and she has quite a strong fan base.
Furthermore, Greene also revealed that there might be another rewrite on the script. “I hear they're doing another rewrite,” the 21-year-old said, “I'm with you guys - I'm so excited to read it.”
Jack Rathbone, who stars as Jasper Hale in the film, recently said the script hadn’t been released for the movie, which is expected to go into production in mid-March under director Chris Weitz who was recently picked after Catherine Hardwicke’s sudden departure from the project.
“I'm still waiting on that, but I assume it's going to be pretty fantastic,” he said referring to the screenplay which is penned by “Twilight” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg.
Based on author Stephenie Meyer’s second novel of the her bestselling vampire saga “Twilight,” “New Moon” will see the story of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) take a new turn while Jacob Black comes into the picture.
