Van Halen has rescheduled concert dates that had been postponed due to guitarist Eddie Van Halen’s medical condition and plans to hit the road once more in April.
While the new tour dates were announced on Van Halen’s website, no details were offered regarding Eddie’s health.
Van Halen performs its previously scheduled April 19 date in Las Vegas and April 22 date in Cincinnati, then does another 18 rescheduled shows across the country, ending June 2 in Grand Rapids, Mich., according to the site.
Tickets for all postponed shows will be honored.
Earlier this month, concert promoter Live Nation quoted Eddie’s physician, who said of the rocker that “he is undergoing a battery of comprehensive medical tests to determine a defined diagnosis and recommended medical procedures.”
The condition was never specified; the 53-year-old musician has battled cancer and substance abuse in the past.
Earlier this month, actress Valerie Bertinelli denied rumors that ex-husband Eddie was in rehab.
“The reports about him being in rehab are wrong. Eddie is sober,” Bertinelli said at a New York luncheon hosted by cable TV's Hallmark Channel, People magazine reported. She would not elaborate what was ailing the rock guitarist though.
Van Halen founders Eddie and Alex Van Halen reunited with original singer Dave Lee Roth perform with the band for the first time in 25 years last year. Joined by bassist Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie Van Halen’s teenage son, the band embarked on a reunion tour that has been widely successful, with sold-out shows and positive reviews from fans and critics alike.
Van Halen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2007, along with R.E.M., The Ronettes, Patti Smith and Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five.
