The Vote for the Worst campaign has did it again! They managed to keep the worst American Idol contestants in the show: Amanda Overmyer and Danny Noriega. Their website reads:
We helped save Amanda and Danny and helped boot a pretty good singer like Alaina. Amanda and Danny were definitely in real danger, yet they stuck around, so great job helping to vote for them this week! Now let's get them into the top 12 and on to Idol Gives Head.
Indeed, last night the results were announced and Jason Yeager, Alexandrea Lushington, Alaina Whitaker and Robbie Carrico all went home. Alaina Whitaker declared that there was no way she could go on with her exit performance, but her fellow contestants propped her up and Carly and Amanda offered backup-vocal support.
When Ryan first asked Alexandrea Lushington and Amanda Overmyer to stand, most people probably thought that Overmyer was the one to go. Well, wrong, you obviously didn't take into account the number of people who want to mess around with American Idol and go with the VFTW campaign.
Tuesday, the top 10 guys on American Idol performed: David Archuleta, Robbie Carrico, Jason Castro, David Cook, Chikezie, David Hernandez, Michael Johns, Luke Menard, Danny Noriega and Jason Yeager.
The young David Archuleta managed to steal the night with a stunning performance of John Lennon's Imagine, a very, very daring song choice. Few people if any manage to make it sound alright, besides ol' John, even if they are far more experienced than Archuleta. However, he somehow did it.
Wednesday night, the top 10 girls took on the stage of the show: Kristy Lee Cook, Asia’h Epperson, Alexandréa Lushington, Kady Malloy, Ramiele Malubay, Syesha Mercado, Amanda Overmyer, Carly Smithson, Alaina Whitaker and Brooke White.
The latter sang Carly’s classic You’re So Vain along with her guitar. The beauty school dropout managed to connect perfectly with the judges, who apparently all thought she picked a perfect song for her and her voice.
The top 8 guys will perform as usual Tuesday, March 4, and the top 8 girls will get their chance to stay in the show the next day. Thursday, March 6, four more contestants will win a ticket home.
The Vote for the Worst (American Idol contestants) campaign has selected this season’s male contestant: Danny Noriega, and also threw their weight behind rocker Amanda Overmyer last night, who are both considered "VFTW inspirations." The Votefortheworst.com site was started in 2004 to support "the entertaining contestants who the producers would hate to see win on American Idol."
