R&B singer Usher and his wife Tameka Foster became the proud parents of a baby on Monday night, People magazine reported.
The Grammy-winning singer/songwriter is reportedly in Atlanta with his wife and baby, and the three are expected to leave the hospital on Wednesday.
According to Associated Press, the 28-year-old’s publicist confirmed the news in an email, but declined to reveal further details.
"Yes, I can confirm that Usher had a baby," Patti Webster told The Associated Press in an e-mailed message.
The couple announced the pregnancy in June, three months prior to their wedding, which was initially canceled for unknown reasons. The two tied the knot several days later during a low-key ceremony in Atlanta on September 1.
Hopefully, the mother and baby feel alright, especially after Tameka’s pregnancy scare in August, which was reportedly one of the unofficial reasons for the cancellation of their star-studded ceremony.
Speaking to People in September, Usher said, "I just want my son to fully be coherent and to be healthy, first and foremost." While the baby’s name wasn’t made public yet, Usher revealed in a recent interview that he and his wife were going to name their firstborn Usher Raymond V.
"If it's a boy, I'm going to name him Usher," he said during a September appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres" show. "I'm hoping to name him that. I've been playing with a few names. I'm the fourth: Usher Raymond IV. I just want to pass the name on. Maybe I'll change the middle name."
