The R&B singer became a dad for the first time to a baby boy after his wife Tameka Foster gave birth on Tuesday.
"We are so happy and proud of our beautiful son," Usher said in a statement through his publicist Patti Webster. "What a blessing!"
Foster, who has three more children from a previous marriage, delivered the baby boy, weighting a healthy 7 pounds, 9 ounces in an Atlanta hospital, at 9:30 p.m.
Just like Usher told Ellen DeGeneres on her show earlier in September, the little one will be named Usher Raymond V.
"If it's a boy, I'm going to name him Usher. I'm hoping to name him that. I've been playing with a few names. I'm the fourth: Usher Raymond IV. I just want to pass the name on. Maybe I'll change the middle name," he was quoted as saying then.
People.com reported that Usher, Tameka, and the baby will be heading back home on Wednesday as a family.
The 36-year-old former stylist, who once said in an interview that she planned to have children with Usher, whom she intends to spend the rest of her life with, broke the news of her pregnancy in June, just several months after Usher told MTV they were engaged. However, the two were forced to cancel their initial wedding in August, due to Foster’s pregnancy "scare."
"I was pushing myself way too hard," Foster said at the time. "But I am fine and the baby is fine."
Several days later Usher and Foster were pronounced husband and wife after a low-key ceremony in Usher’s lawyer’s office.
