Usher released a statement late on Tuesday in which he apologized for the remarks he made with regard to Chris Brown in a video made public by Jermaine Dupri.
“The comments made during a recent recording session amongst friends were taken out of context and blown out of proportion,” the statement issued by the 30-year-old singer read. “I apologize on behalf of myself and my friends if anyone was offended. The intentions were not to pass judgment and we meant no harm. I respect and wish the best for all parties involved,” Usher explained.
The comments made by Usher referred to several photos of Chris Brown that were published over the weekend, which showed the 19-year-old star riding a jet ski during his so-called reconciliation weekend with fellow singer girlfriend Rihanna in Miami, at one of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ residences.
In the video, Usher blamed Chris Brown for having fun instead of taking care of Rihanna following the alleged February 8 incident the couple underwent. Usher said that Brown should “have a little bit of remorse.” The remarks exposed in the video, which is part of Jermaine Dupri’s “Living the Life” series, were recorded on Monday, according to observations by Usher, who is shown in front of a laptop discussing several snaps together with some other men in a recording studio.
“I’m a little disappointed in this photo,” Usher says regarding the shots of Brown, while singer/songwriter Johnta Austin wanders through the room and makes numerous stormy jokes about boxing. “After the other photo [of Rihanna’s battered face posted by TMZ in February]? C’mon, Chris. Have a little bit of remorse, man. The man’s on jet skis? Like, just relaxing in Miami?” the clip shows Usher saying.
