Uma Thurman has reportedly gotten engaged to her wealthy Swiss financier beau Arpad "Arki" Busson. The information was confirmed by the American actress’ publicist according to a United Press International report.
"I can confirm she is engaged," Stephen Huvane, Thurman's representative, said in an interview with People.com.
The Academy Award-nominated actress best known for her roles in Quentin Tarantino’s "Pulp Fiction" and "Kill Bill," is at her third marriage. She was also married to actors Gary Oldman and Ethan Hawke. I know, some of you may say Uma is not married yet, she’s just engaged and this is Hollywood we’re talking about, but let’s be optimistic!
The famous actress – full name Uma Karuna Thurman - has two children with Hawke (Levon and Maya) while Busson is father to two children with his ex-girlfriend, model Elle Macpherson. Thurman, 38, also had a three-year relationship with hotel magnate André Balazs before hooking up with Busson.
According to another source close to the couple, when Busson proposed in London this week, he gave Thurman an 8+ carat center diamond surrounded by 20 smaller stones. The two are in the British capital city for Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday bash.
Thurman, one of the tallest actresses in Hollywood at 6 feet (1.8 m), wore the ring for the first time in public at Elton John's British manor house for his 10th Annual White Tie and Tiara benefit.
Currently, Uma Thurman is engaged in a legal battle with the French cosmetics company Lancôme. Last month she filed a lawsuit, claiming $15 million over the use of her name and face in advertising campaigns.
Uma Thurman stated in her lawsuit that Lancôme Parfums et Beaute & Cie boosted its worldwide sales and enhanced its “prestige, stature and bargaining power” by helping retailers and others use her name and likeness in advertising and promotions after her contract expired. According to Thurman, the company gave the “false impression” she was still linked to Lancôme.
Lancôme however denied such an accusation, stating it has not violated the contract and that she is therefore not entitled to the compensation she is seeking.
