Update: Kanye West Arrested at LAX after Scuffle with Paparazzi

Kanye West and one of his bodyguards were arrested at Los Angeles International Airport Thursday morning after they had been involved in a scuffle with a paparazzo, which left a camera valued at more than $10,000 in pieces and a photographer beaten up.

Kanye West was being taken by his security at the American Airlines check-in area, sometime just before 8 a.m. Apparently, they were met by a throng of paparazzi, who were trying to get a glimpse of the hooded singer. Both he and one of his security men, who is apparently West's road manager, were arrested by the police, are in custody at the LAX station and will be transported to the LAPD Pacific Division for booking later in the day. The two face charges of felony vandalism, with the bodyguard also facing battery.

TMZ claims that there were two paparazzi involved, one of whom was their own. They allege that Kanye destroyed the camera of another photographer and noticed that TMZ's man was taping the whole thing and went over to break up their camera too. West's posse tried to get away but were stopped by police. Kanye West was also violent during interrogations, when police had to restrain him after lunging towards one of the paparazzi during questioning.

The star, who is apparently on a downward trend lately, was about 2 hours late at the Bonnaroo Festival this year. West’s fans were upset and criticized the rapper. West didn’t even apologize after the show and claimed it wasn’t his fault that he started performing that late.

The organizers had to clear the scene after Pearl Jam’s performance and, because the band stayed more than it was scheduled, the whole operation took longer than expected. Also the organizers had to set the stage for West and that took more time. West’s fans grew more and more impatient and some of them started to leave, others began throwing beer cans on the stage while booing the rapper.

West was so furious last year over the treatment he received at the 24th edition of the MTV Video Music Awards that he vowed never to return again. He was appalled at not winning in any of the five categories he had been nominated for and revolted with the way his performance was prepared by the organizers. However, he returned to close this year's show nevertheless.

Update: The singer and his road manager, Don Crowley, were released Thursday afternoon from the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Division on $20,000 bail. Both men were charged with felony vandalism, according to a spokesperson for the airport's public-relations office.
