The relationship between John Voight and her daughter Angelina Jolie may not be perfect, but the Academy Award-winning actor can not help feeling as a proud grandfather.
The 69-year-old grandfather described the event in his family as “most exciting,” E! News reported. Voight talked about the arrival of the new babies in an interview with E!News at the Television Critics Association press tour on Monday where he was invited to talk about his upcoming role as a baddie on 24.
Voight said that, for him, there is nothing more exciting than that “a new soul is coming in” especially when the babies are “Angie’s” and Brad’s.
“All my love goes to them. I was very excited. I was just as excited as everybody else."
As for the fact that her beautiful daughter had twins, Voight said that his niece has twins and he spent a lot of time with them, so he knows how it is going to be.
"They are a big deal. How many people have seen little tiny twins in their lives?”
Voight described the names chosen by Brangelina for their twins (Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon) as "very unusual.” Jolie gave birth on Monday at a hospital in Nice, France, triggering a lot of excitement in the glamorous Riviera town. Nice’s mayor came at the hospital to sign the babies' birth certificates the following day.
Unlike Jolie’s brother James Haven, who was one of the first to arrive at her bedside after the delivery, Voight remained in Los Angeles while her daughter gave birth in France. However, the Oscar winner said that he wasn’t invited, but he will come if he is.
"If I'm asked, I'll find a way. But I haven't been asked."
The Jolie-Pitt family now has 8 members. The four other Jolie-Pitt children are: Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2. The Jolie-Pitts have been staying in a leased château in the village of Brignol, near Aix-en-Provence. Angelina and her two newly born babies will join the rest of the family once they are given the all-clear to leave the hospital.
