Update: Janet Jackson Is Back On Track

The 42-year-old performer was rushed to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal on Monday night, after she "got suddenly ill" during a sound check, according to a statement from W&W Public Relations.

The mysterious illness forced her to cancel the Montreal show she was preparing. Janet is currently promoting her latest album, “Discipline,” on the “Rock Witchu Tour,” but this isn’t her first cancellation since she first got on the road, September 10. Last Friday, she reportedly called off her Detroit show due to "production constraints.”

Rebecca Burns, the spokeswoman for the McGill University Health Centre, which operates the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal stated that the singer only spent a couple of hours after she had been admitted, but gave no further details regarding the singer’s health, nor the actual reasons for her admission.

Sources close to the pop sensation and her boyfriend/producer Jermaine Dupri claim that Janet Jackson has complained of exhaustion repeatedly in the last year, as she is not getting younger, but still looks fabulous, we might add. "A 42-year-old body can't handle what a 22-year-old body can. I can tell you that she's definitely tired. It was probably exhaustion. She is doing back-to-back, three-hour shows, and her body isn't the same as it used to be," says the anonymous source, as quoted by People Magazine.

Another setback in the promotion of Janet’s new album was canceling her appearance on “Saturday Night Live” back in April, due to another illness. Jermaine Dupri stated at the time in an interview for MTV News: "She's 100 percent better now. She was really sick. She had bronchitis. She's in Japan right now. She's better and doing all the promotion that she didn't get to do because she was sick when the album launched."

Janet Jackson, now in her forties, looks back on her career and makes a strong comeback with her best sound in a new package. “Discipline,” her new album, released in March this year, is reflecting a return to her “Control” era. But she is now…well, more disciplined, more mature and finally happy with her life, but fans don’t seem to enjoy as much of her music.

Despite all the promotional work, “Discipline” only sold a disappointing 415,000 units, after debuting straight to No. 1, according to Sound Scan. She blamed the poor sales to her record label and decided to part ways with Island Def Jam Records after just 14 months of contract, as announced last week.

"Now, more than 20 years after the release of her iconic album, Control, Janet will have autonomy over her career, without the restrictions of a label system," Jackson's publicist said in a statement, pointing out that the decision of “breaking-up” was Janet’s.

The famous singer of the even more famous Jackson family promises her fans to try and reschedule the canceled shows, as she goes back on the road with the “Rock Witchu Tour,” which also features LL Cool J, and is slated to continue through October 22.

Update: Following her admission to the hospital, Janet Jackson has decided to postpone two more shows: the one scheduled for Boston on Wednesday and the one in Philadelphia. Her show promoter Gillett Entertainment didn’t offer any details on when or if the shows would be rescheduled.
