Guy Ritchie’s mother has denied the rumors that her son and pop singer Madonna are preparing to divorce. Lady Amber Leighton told The Telegraph that the rumors are pure fiction and there have been no meetings of the couple with high-powered divorce lawyers.
The previous rumors alleged that Madonna met with celebrity divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton, who has also represented Sir Paul McCartney in his divorce of master gold-digger Heather Mills, as well as Princess Diana in her divorce from Prince Charles. Madonna and Ritchie have no known prenuptial agreement.
Madonna and Ritchie have been closely watched over the past several months, so much so that repeated public appearances form the Material Mom sans her hubby led many to speculate that the relationship was thinning. Madonna had been busy promoting “Hard Candy” in the U. S., while Ritchie had been finishing postproduction on his new film “RocknRolla” in the U. K., filming a Nike commercial.
A month ago, a Malawi judge had finally approved Madonna’s application to adopt three-year-old David Banda from Malawi. The pop singer and her husband, Guy Ritchie, began proceedings for David more than a year and a half ago, when they picked the boy at an orphanage in the South African nation. David has been living with Madonna and her husband since 2006, when the couple filed adoption papers.
The couple has two other children: 11-year-old daughter Lourdes (by Madonna’s former personal trainer Carlos Leon) and 7-year-old Rocco, the couple's son.
