A Little Rock, Arkansas anchorwoman was found in critical condition after she was savagely beaten right inside of her home. Anne Pressly, a 26-year-old anchorwoman for KATV, was found at about 4:30 a.m. Monday by her mother who went to check on her after she didn’t respond to a wake-up call. The anchorwoman was rushed to a local hospital.
Pressly was found a half an hour before she was supposed to appear on KATV's "Daybreak" program, according to Little Rock police spokeswoman Cassandra Davis.
Police are currently investigating whether the anchorwoman may have been targeted because of her job. Investigators asked Pressly’s work colleagues if she has had any problems lately that might be linked to the incident, but did not give details about this issue.
However, police investigators believe this may have been something other than a usual robbery and the attack may have been carried out because Pressly was a public figure. She also had a small part in "W," the George W. Bush biopic.
"(It) is possible that it is something other than robbery," Davis said. "Our detectives are talking with co-workers because she was a public figure, because she was on the news, in the media."
Pressly’s mother found her daughter irresponsive in her bed. She had multiple injuries to her head and on the rest of her body from the beating.
Anne Pressly’s most notable interview was with Dick Cheney. The Vice President blocked a highway in front of a hunting goods store in an Arkansas town. Pressly carried out the interview in the ammunition aisle according to the KATV Web site.
According to the latest media reports, her condition was upgraded to stable shortly after she arrived at the hospital.
As the investigation advances, police officials told the AP that there
was no sign of forced entry. Although Pressly's purse was missing and
robbery seems to be the first plausible scenario, investigators did not
rule out stalking as a motive for the aggressive attack. Police officials said there are no suspects.
