Following numerous reports about the reception problems with
the 3G iPhone, Apple has released a software update, dubbed 2.02., which weighs
248.7MB and it can be downloaded through iTunes software.
There were numerous complaints about reception and dropped calls and allegedly
the issues are determined by the Infeon chipset the new 3G iPhone uses.
The glitches of Apple’s latest smart phone stirred a lot of
debate on the blogosphere over the main cause of these malfunctions. The
problem with the dropped calls on Apple 3G iPhone is not only a U.S. thing.
Users from Paris to Tokyo,
from London to Stockholm are complaining about the
connections hiccups.
The fault appears to occur especially when the phone tries
to switch from 3G to another network.
However, Apple didn’t issue any official statement about the
problem, but instead has released this update. It is considered that the
problem affects around 60,000 users.
But apparently event the update failed to completely solve
the hiccups. There are various reports from media and users, saying that an
unidentified number of users are still reporting problems even after updating their
iPhones.
Though, AppleInsider noted that the 2.0.2 update brigs other
features as well, such as faster browsing and typing lag reduction.
Apple spokeswoman Jennifer Bowcock said that the iPhone
2.0.2 software update "improved communication with 3G networks", but
she declined to comment which are exactly the improvements brought by the new
software.
