Angelina Jolie’s gynecologist held a press conference on Wednesday during which he gave details about the medical condition of the pregnant actress and her precious twins.
Jolie is currently in a French Riviera maternity clinic and it is perfectly normal for someone who underwent a caesarean in the first pregnancy to be in hospital at this stage, said her doctor Michel Sussmann, who also delivered Shiloh in Namibia.
The doctor of Nice Lenval Hospital also said that Jolie’s twins will most likely see the daylight for the first time in the coming weeks. However, Sussmann declined to reveal the sex of the expected twins or give a more accurate indication of the likely birth date.
"I cannot give you
a date. Let's say that the birth will take place in the coming weeks,"
he said
"What she needs now is simple surveillance by monitoring to ensure the good health of her babies in the weeks to come," Sussmann told reporters gathered at the news conference held at Lenval Foundation's Santa Maria maternity clinic in Nice, southern France.
He also said that Angelina Jolie "is a patient like any other ... very simple and for whom I have a great deal of respect,"
Jolies’s partner Brad Pitt was seen leaving the clinic on Wednesday morning after a visit. He was accompanied by one of the couple’s four children.
The super star actress was reportedly placed in the facility’s best room which is situated at the fifth floor and has an "unobstructed view" over the Bay of Angels and the Mediterranean Sea, Nice Matin reported. Another juicy piece of detail revealed by the French newspaper was the fact that Jolie arrived at the hospital by helicopter when she checked in on Sunday.
The 33-year-old Academy Award winner reserved four rooms on the maternity ward, with a bodyguard keeping watch, the paper said.
Jolie was admitted to the Lenval Hospital on Monday, a hospital spokeswoman told the media, and the actress’ spokesperson confirmed the reports Tuesday, stating that she is “doing great.” Jolie’s Los Angeles spokesman sent an e-mail to Reuters saying that Jolie is “doing great, very healthy and happy.”
According to Nadine Bauer, spokeswoman for the Lenval Hospital, olie had come to the medical facility as “part of a pre-planned rest period, before she gives birth,” adding that the visit had “been planned for a long time” and that “there are no complications.” “She is just resting,” Bauer added.
The twins will be Jolie and partner Brad Pitt’s fifth and sixth children, siblings to their brood of four: Cambodian-born Maddox, 6; daughter Zahara, 3, from Ethiopia; Vietnamese-born Pax, 4, and biological daughter Shiloh, 2, born in Namibia.
Speculation regarding a certain expansion of Jolie’s waist began long ago but it was only in late May, at the Cannes Film Festival, that the 33-year-old confirmed she was expecting twins.
Last month, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she confessed that finding out she was pregnant with twins had been a “shock.” Once over the astonishment however, Jolie discovered that unlike other women who complain of morning sickness, sore backs, mood swings, the dreaded inflation of the silhouette and what not, she felt quite happy and comfortable being pregnant. “As a woman you’re just so round and full,” she said.
Round and full and happy, Jolie, Pitt and their four children have been in France for several weeks now, preparing for the arrival of their new family members. It has been speculated that they chose France in order to honor Jolie’s late mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, who passed away last year. The couple plans to spend a while in France, considering they have signed a three-year lease on an estate in the French Riviera. Entertainment news sources reported in May that the Jolie-Pitts acquired a $60 million 1,000-acre estate called Chateau Miraval, located in a tiny village called Brignol in the Var.
The property allegedly has 35 bedrooms, swimming pool, billiards room, indoor pool, gyms, sauna and jacuzzi and a huge banquet hall. The castle is reportedly very intimate, with a driveway three miles long. The place is surrounded by forest on all sides and is close to Aix en Provence.
The Jolie-Pitts could very well organize play dates for their children with the offspring of their very famous French Riviera area neighbors, Bono and wife Ali Hewson and Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis.
Asked at one point whether her children would be learning French, Jolie replied “it’s a second language in our home,” and that Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh are already practicing.
Update: Meanwhile photos of Angelina Jolie displaying her bump have emerged on the web. Apparently the pictures were taken by the paparazzi on July 2, the same day when Angelina Jolie checked into the Lenval hospital. Also the Australian portal News.com.au has revealed that Angelina Jolie has a secret pregnancy diary. According to an anonymous source, this journal is very special to her and she's keeping it private, even from Brad.
The French media has reported that the two daughters of Brad
Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh,
2, have left the Lenval hospital this afternoon. Brad Pitt accompanied Zahara and Shiloh. The local newspaper, Nice Matin, has described the
international media crush at the hospital as a scene from “24”.
Meanwhile the speculations and rumors about the possible
birth date and the names of the twins are rampant.
Some sources claim that Angelina Jolie will give birth to
two girls, while other publications and websites are saying that they will be a
boy and a girl.
