Pictures of Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon,
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s newborn twins, were published in the Monday edition of
People Magazine. They were born on 12 July in Nice and these are their first
official photographs. Larry Hackett, People’s managing director said: “They
will delight our readers who have followed the growth of the Jolie-Pitt
family." Apparently the worldwide
rights for the photos were sold for $14 million.
People paired with British magazine Hello! in the multi-million- dollar
battle to secure the rights to the first photographs. People has the US rights, while Hello! will publish
the pictures in the rest of the world.
The Jolie-Pitt family also includes 7-year-old
Maddox, 4-year-old Pax and 3-year-old Zahara. They’ve currently settled down at
the Chateau Miraval in Provence, France. That’s where the photos were taken. Jolie,
33, referred to their life at the chateau as "chaos, but we are managing
it and having a wonderful time." The notorious family has eight members
now.
All were dressed in white for the photo shoot.
In one of the pictures one can see the couple's 2-year-old daughter, Shiloh,
holding her new sister. A preview of the shooting appeared on the online edition on
Sunday.
When asked about the twins’ names, Brad Pitt,
44, explained for People: “”The name Vivienne came to us early, as if she named
herself–she has always been Viv. And Marcheline is to honor Angie’s
mother. Knox came
soon after. It is a family name, my grandfather’s. Léon is a classic French name.”
Angelina Jolie rejected rumors that stated
that the two conceived their twins through in vitro fertilization and said that
they wouldn’t have kept this a secret to anyone. The couple is so famous that the press
nicknamed them Brangelina.
