A man who has been stalking actress Uma Thurman over the past two years has been indicted, with bail set at $100,000.
A 35-year-old California man named Jack Jordan was arrested last Friday outside Uma Thurman’s house in New York after years of fanatically following her around and trying to get in touch with the actress.
The New York Post reports that as of yesterday, Jordan was held on $10,000 bail in New York. The former psychiatric patient was indicted on charges of attempted coercion, aggravated harassment and stalking.
Access Hollywood reports that it has obtained court papers that document Jordan’s bizarre behavior towards Uma Thurman. The man allegedly slept in his car outside the actress’s house and even turned up on the set of one of her movies in 2005 and tried to give her a photo he had drawn.
It showed him “walking along the edge of a razor blade” while Uma was “digging a grave” for him. The papers add that the troubled man’s family had him “involuntarily committed to a hospital for mental health treatment” the following day.
Jordan also allegedly threatened to commit suicide if Uma had a relationship with another man. According to the Post, Jordan’s attorney has asked for his client to be separated from other inmates at Rikers Island and to be kept on suicide watch.
E! Online reports that the judge handling the case issued an order of protection for the actress and her family in case Jordan is released.
Uma Thurman, 37, is mother to Maya Ray, 9, and Levon Roan, 5, with former husband Ethan Hawk. The two met on the set of the 1997 sci-fi film “Gattaca” and married in 1998. They divorced in 2004.
Uma received an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress for her role as Mia Wallace in the 1994 cult film “Pulp Fiction.”
Her most recent screen credits include the 2006 romantic comedy “My Super Ex-Girlfriend,” where her co-stars were Luke Wilson, Anna Faris and Rainn Wilson.
She recently finished shooting romantic comedy “The Accidental Husband,” due for release in March 2008. She stars alongside Colin Firth, Isabella Rossellini and Sam Shepard.
