Queens rapper and Byrd Gang member, Stack Bundles, was killed in front of his house early Tuesday in New York.
According to police, the rapper, who was tied to stars like Fabolous and Jim Jones, was shot just outside his Queens apartment building in an apparent ambush. As he was returning home from partying with friends at a Manhattan nightclub, the 24-year-old rapper, real name Rayquan Elliot, was approached by an unknown number of assailants and shot in his head and neck.
The shooter or shooters fled, The New York Times reports, and no arrests have yet been made. Authorities said the case remains under investigation.
"He was just getting big," said Davida Wooten, Elliot’s aunt who also recalled he asked her to help him move out not so long ago.
"They took his life out of jealousy; they didn't want to see him blow up," she said. "This was his dream. This was all our dreams and he was doing it."
"The Dipset/Byrdgang family is deeply saddened by our loss," ByrdGang manager Yandy Smith said in a statement.
"Not only did we lose a member but we lost a brother and a friend. Rayquon Elliot, a.k.a Stack Bundles, was a joy to be around, charming, very intelligent, compassionate and concerned about the upliftment and enrichment of his community and the people in it.
"We cannot stress enough that a young star's light was put out before he had a chance to shine in front of the world," the statement continued. "We would like this to be a lesson to the rap game ... too many of our talented artists are losing the battle of life before their voices have a chance to be heard."
He recorded with a variety of artists, including Fabolous, Lil Wayne, Joe Budden, Max B., Juelz Santana and Jim Jones.
