USB ports are everywhere and this is a good thing as USB has made life easier for so many people. Mobile phones, keyboards, mice, MP3 players, portable gaming consoles, they all use the USB system.
Even though it is a blessing already to have it around, people still have the desire for more speed, better technologies, always aiming higher, always wishing for more. Many blame it on the human nature, but this is not about philosophy, it’s about USB 3.0. HP, Intel, Microsoft, NEC, ST-NXP and Texas instruments are the promoters of USB 3.0 and have been working on its standard specifications for a while. They have even been accused of holding back information in order to have a leading edge on the USB 3.0 market.
The accusations came from AMD and Nvidia who started working on their own standard specifications for USB 3.0. Many worried that this would cause for the whole system to fail, as some devices won’t be compatible with others. USB 3.0 is supposed to be faster and more reliable, designed especially for the transfer of larger files and faster speeds.
Apparently, speed is everything and that shouldn’t be very shocking as humanity seems constantly on the run to reach a place they don’t even know. AMD and Nvidia started working on their own specifications, but many say that the first ones to be made available will be the ones embraced by all companies. This means that the initial promoters of USB 3.0 are the winners.
Devices using this new type of USB will be available for the general public in 2010.
