Michael Jackson, the world-famous King of Pop, began his career at a young age, when he was part of the band called Jackson Five, which features the 5 boys of the Jackson family. His sister Janet Jackson, although not a part of the family band, managed to make a name for herself in the music industry and rose to the top on her own, although she didn’t quite get the fame of her brother. LaToya Jackson, on the other hand, another of Michael’s sisters, isn’t as famous or successful as her sister Janet.
The inventor of the “moonwalk” was surrounded by rumors all his life. Unfortunately, he suffers from several medical conditions that have given birth to myths concerning his persona. For example, few people are aware that Michael suffers from a skin condition called vitiligo, a condition that was concealed from the audience from quite some time, and made public later on.
Despite it being announced, many people still believe that Michael Jackson’s skin whitening is a result of elective procedures. Their belief was strengthened given the fact that Michael Jackson’s skin and facial features were not only turning paler, but were also starting to resemble a Caucasian visage. His nose was also surrounded by similar rumors, especially since during the last years it seems to be basically decaying after it had visibly slimmed down. The state of Michael Jackson’s nose virtually compels the singer to wear a mask in public.
Michael Jackson also had some highly media-covered run-ins with justice, most of them concerning charges of child molestation. Jackson was accused of molesting several children that were visiting his ranch Neverland, inspired from the popular story of Peter Pan.
Lately, another rumor has surfaced, this time issued by what seemed to be a trustworthy choice, namely Ian Halperin, the author of Jacko’s new biography. The author gave an interview to Sunday Express, where he claimed the singer had Alpha-1 antitryspin deficiency, a genetic condition which sometimes is potentially fatal. The condition was not treatable unless Jackson had a lung transplant, for which the same Halperin said the singer was too weak.
Halperin stated that Michael Jackson could not live through such an invasive and long surgery as he also suffered from emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding. The bleeding was the main reason for which Halperin thought Jacko would not make it through the surgery.
These rumors have recently been debunked by a source closer to Michael Jackson, namely Dr. Tohme Tohme, the singer’s spokesperson. According to Dr. Tohme, the rumor issued by Ian Halperin, according to which Michael Jackson was in dire need of a heart transplant because he suffered from Alpha-1 antitryspin deficiency is “total fabrication.”
