Expectations are sky high for U2’s new album ‘No Line on the Horizon,’ but many industry analysts are asking themselves: Will it deliver?
The huge buzz surrounding the release of U2’s latest album seems to have diminished after ‘No Line on the Horizon’ leaked earlier this week and spread like crazy on the blogosphere. Unexpectedly, the band’s own label let the tracks out, a move that may have sabotaged what was Universal Music Group’s 2009 most anticipated release.
The group’s Australian branch reportedly leaked the album by accident. The tracks of the new U2 album were made available for purchase online and in good quality through the music site Getmusic.au.
The U2 plans to launch their album on February 27 in Ireland. Unfortunately for them, their album was made available on the above mentioned site about two weeks before the launch date for about two hours, until the error was detected. However, it was more than enough for the album to explode in the blogosphere. The album was downloaded and passed out.
However, after the leak, U2 decided that if you can not fight it, join it. So they are streaming the new album since Friday on the band’s MySpace page.
Listeners can stream the entire album free of charge on www.myspace.com/u2.
