U2’s New Single Broadcast on Monday

U2 members have recently released their first album after a five-year break and their first single from was released on Monday. “Get On Your Boots” began to be heard by every U2 fan on RTE, which is Ireland’s state broadcaster. In addition, after this first release, the single is also available on U2’s official Web site.

The Irish broadcaster Dave Fanning was the one who has been receiving first singles of U2 for years. Due to his friendship with Bono which has been lasting since the band’s rise in Dublin in the 1970s, Fanning told on Monday morning at RTE 2FM from Ireland that this is "a big song with lots of layers, but not overproduced."

The single will begin to go on sale from February 13 in Ireland and a few days after, fans all over the world would be able to buy it from their countries too. The official Web site of the band lists the 11 songs of their new album too.

“No Line on the Horizon” is scheduled to be released on February 27 in Ireland, March 2 in other countries and March 3 in the United States. The members of U2 needed two years and four cities to record the new album. They travelled to London, Dublin, Morocco and New York as to be sure this will be the biggest-selling album of 2009.

Their previous album, “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb,” was released in 2004 and won a Grammy Award. “No Line on the Horizon” is U2’s 12th studio album and it will be sold in five formats: a standard CD case with 24-page booklet; a "digipak" edition with a fold-out poster and rights to download a U2 film; a 64-page magazine version; a box edition that includes a DVD and hardback book; and a limited-issue vinyl LP.

Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. formed U2 in 1976. In spite of their little experience with music and recording, they became an international success by the middle of the 1980s. They have sold more than 140 million albums throughout the world and have won 22 Grammy Awards until now.
