A two –year-old girl from Minnesota stabbed herself in the eye with a
screwdriver and fortunately, she escaped relatively unharmed, local media
sources reported.
Teagon Gislason was playing with some children at her Cannon Falls
church last week when she found the screwdriver. Playing with it, she fell and
the screwdriver went straight into her head. The only damage the little girl
suffered was a bruise.
Her parents took her immediately to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester where doctors
removed the screwdriver without a surgery being needed. It took doctors four
hours to extract the tool from the child’s head.
According to the doctors dealing with the case, neither the
eye, nor the brain was damaged. The child’s vision appears to be fine and just
a scar on her eyelid will remember the child the miraculous event she has been
through.
"All I kept thinking was I don't care about scars, I
don't care about loss of movement, I don't care about loss of vision, I don't
care about her speech. I just want her alive. She's our Christmas
miracle," said Katie Gislason, her mother, according to local media
sources.
The child is currently on treatment with antibiotics to make
sure the eye does not become infected. She is expected at the hospital for
regular checks to ensure her vision will not experience further problems.
