Two Stuntmen Suffer Burns on Sandler Film Set

Two stuntmen attached to Adam Sandler’s new Columbia comedy, “You Don't Mess with the Zohan,” were hospitalized Monday after suffering injuries on the set.

E!Online reports that two men hired as stuntmen for the Adam Sandler comedy currently filming were taken to the nearby Grossman Burn Center in Sherman Oaks Monday. The two had suffered first- and third-degree burns, according to Los Angeles County fire officials.

One is listed in serious yet stable condition while the other is listed as stable, according to E! Online. It remains unclear whether the two stuntmen were working on the Universal Studios back lot set, when the accident occurred, or happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, the website notes.

Neither man has been identified by the studio or hospital. One person was burned on the hands and legs and another on the back, officials said.

“Our thoughts right now are with the stuntmen and their families and we hope that each recovers swiftly from their injuries,” Columbia Tristar Motion Picture Group spokesman Steve Elzer said in a statement.

Adam Sandler reportedly visited the injured men in the hospital Monday evening, according to E! Online who cites Los Angeles' KCAL-TV.

Sandler stars in “Zohan” alongside longtime pal and collaborator Rob Schneider; Mariah Carey is rumored to appear in the comedy as well, per imdb.com, as herself. Sandler portrays an Israeli secret agent who fakes his own death and moves to New York, where he starts a new life, as a hairdresser.

“Chuck and Larry” helmer Dennis Dugan is directing “Zohan,” based on a script co-written by Sandler, Judd Apatow and Robert Smigel. The film is due in theaters June 6.

The actor’s recent screen credits include “Reign Over Me,” released this spring, and “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,” the summer hit that has grossed more than $180 million globally.

Sandler is also set to star in the Disney movie “Bedtime Stories,” which he also co-produces. Adam Shankman directs.
