Two More Games for the Nintendo Virtual Console

Nintendo added another couple of games this week to its Virtual Console lineup: Adventures of Lolo 2 and Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers.

Adventures of Lolo 2 costs 500 points or $5. It is a puzzle game originally released in 1990 by HAL Corporation for the NES/Famicom. The game features 50 different puzzle rooms, and an actual fight with the King Egger at the end. There are also 4 hidden Pro puzzle rooms. Lolo, the character which the player moves, must rescue Lala, following clues she left behind to navigate mazes by pushing tiles and transforming enemies into eggs.

Super Street Fighter II was originally released in 1993 for the Super NES and other platforms. It was released after Street Fighter II, including redrawn characters and better graphics and animations. Along with a revolutionary combo system, the game introduced four new characters.

Super Street Fighter II was criticized by many hardcore gamers because it is slower than Street Fighter II Turbo. It was also alleged that the game was rushed onto the market because Mortal Kombat II was released. Super Street Fighter II Turbo, released next year, featured enhanced speed and difficulty, as well as the first appearance of the then-secret fighter Akuma. Several members of the team working on the Super Street Fighter II game alleged later that the Turbo version was the game originally intended for release.
