Friday, two
men shot each other to death in a packed with shoppers SoCal Toys R Us store,
after the women who were with them got into a fight, according to witnesses
statements.
No other
people were injured, authorities revealed.
On Black
Friday, when the official holiday shopping season began, many stores were taken
over by throngs of customers hunting for bargains, but police said that the
incident had not been related to the shopping craze.
Riverside County sheriff's Sergeant Dennis Gutierrez stated
that the women had not fought over a toy, refusing to disclose any other pieces
of information. Moreover, he refused to say whether the shootings had been
gang-related.
Scott Barrick, 41, one of the witnesses, said that the women
had been near the checkout when one of them had begun punching the other.
Afterwards, the man with the woman who had been punched
pulled out a gun and then put it back in his pocket, while the other man also
took out his fire weapon, which rendered the first man to try and go into
hiding.
When he reached a dead-end in the store's electronics
section, he pulled his gun out yet again and began shooting back.
Police stated they were investigating the incident to try
and find out what led to the shootings in the first place.
In a statement they released, Toys R Us officials said that from what they
had learned, the incident had resulted from a personal issue between the two
women, adding that the event could not be linked to Black Friday.
