Two men were stabbed in a random attack Sunday night in a Fullerton
theater while watching a horror movie, according to authorities.
The suspect stood in the AMC Fullerton 20 theater and just
as “The Signal” movie started he stabbed one man who was alone at the movie. As
he walked towards the exit he stabbed another man.
According to Police Lt. Tom Basham, the victims didn’t know
one another or the attacker, thus making the authorities to believe that it was
a “random assault,” Los Angeles Times reports.
One man was stabbed in the arm while the other was stabbed
in the arm and chest.
According to Basham, the wounds were not life-threatening.
Officers were already there when they’ve received a call about
a report of illegal substances found at the site. About 7:30 p.m. "people came running out of the theater
saying they've been stabbed," said Basham.
"This is a weird deal," he said about the
incident.
Basham continued saying that a man had "started
stabbing at the theater seat and then he stabbed the victim. As he fled, he
stabbed another victim sitting near the exit."
The suspect was described by Sgt. Jason Schoen as a white
man, heavy, with black hair, in his 20s, the Associated Press informs.
He is believed to be the same person who was thrown out of
the theater earlier on Sunday for disrupting a movie.
The authorities are investigating a surveillance tape.
The suspect fled the scene and the movie was paused so that
police could investigate. “The Signal” is about an electronic signal which
makes people want to kill.
Tuesday morning Schoen said that nobody was arrested.
