The vampire
movie “Twilight,” which opened Friday in United States theaters, registered revenue
amounting to $7 million from Thursday midnight screenings, having also been
reported that the production’s Friday earnings would reach $30 million.
The profit
would rank in the Top 20 biggest opening-day earnings in history, while „Twilight”
is definitely set to exceed the debut week-end revenue industry experts have
forecast, which was estimated at over $60 million.
Not long ago, another movie released this November registered
a box-office record and surpassed pundits’ expectations in terms of opening
earnings. „Quantum of Solace,” the 22nd Bond movie of the 007 franchise, sold $67.5
million worth of tickets during its first week-end after it debuted in the
U.S., while its overseas revenue was reported at $56.1 million within the first
three days.
“Twilight”
tells the story of teenage girl Bella Swan, who falls in love with Edward
Cullen, a more than a hundred years old vampire who has not aged since 1918 and
has special powers such as mind-reading and being able to stop a moving car
with his bare hands.
Nevertheless,
Cullen is part of a vampire clan that does not feed on human blood, which even
though kind of sucks out the very essence of a vampire movie, gives the romance
between the two characters a chance.
Portrayed
by Kristen Stewart, Bella and Edward (Robert Pattinson) still have to overcome
some roadblocks in order to be together, since the closer they become, the more
the vampire’s primal thirst for human blood rears its head.
