Stephenie Meyer confirmed the fact that Taylor Lautner will keep his role as a werewolf in the new “Twilight” sequel. Lautner will still play as Jacob Black in “New Moon,” after a lot of rumors thought and announced the opposite. A lot of fans of the hit vampire romantic “Twilight” showed a lot of consternation to the speculations about Lautner quitting the part.
Summit Entertainment will distribute the movie, as Chris Weltz announced on Wednesday. The female protagonist, Bella, interpreted by Kristen Stewart, will have a stronger affective relationship with Jacob Black. After his character had a minor participation in “Twilight,” his part will now become even more important.
Jacob character looks a lot older in “New Moon” due to the physiological changes he goes through and this has been the reason for which a lot of fans believed that Lautner would be replaced. Yet, the actor was working on gaining more weight as to be in best shape for his character.
On the other hand, Robert Pattinson, who was brought to play Edward, was also said to be too fat for his role.
“New Moon” is said to be released in November 2009, but it’s still unclear how big Lautner’s part will be, because the director wants to improve Pattinson’s part too. Due to the fact that Edward is believed to have been the key to success of “Twilight,” even if he had a small role, the producers now want to keep him in front of the project.
Also, after various discussions about Weitz leaving the “Twilight” sequel and Catherine Hardwicke replacing him, “New Moon” will have its same director. Apparently, Hardwicke could not reach an agreement with Summit and Weitz returned last month to go on with “New Moon.”
