It’s all about “Twilight” these days. In the dark light of
dusk, a gorgeous girl and an attractive lad fall in love. Okay, maybe I’m
exaggerating with the figures of speech, but this is the main point of the
movie nonetheless. He resembles a phantom, with skin like limestone and glistens
in the bright glow of sun.
Oh wait, ghosts show up during nighttime. Anyway,
his beauty is supernatural, as are his power, velocity and musical skills. He
can charm them all, but he falls in her loving trap. And it’s only a matter of
time before she finds out that his perfection really is blemished. He’s 108,
although he looks like a 17-year-old, he does not eat ordinary food, does not
need any rest, is probably dead and loves drinking… blood. Oh, and most of all,
he’s a vampire. This should freeze your veins for a couple of minutes.
He’s not Dracula, but is one of his followers. He goes by
the name of Edward Cullen and is the breathtaking creature of “Twilight,” the
long awaited vampire film based on a novel from Stephenie Meyer’s outrageously popular
four-book vampire series.
“Twilight,” scheduled for release on Friday, November 21,
focuses on the unusual love story between an ordinary high-school girl, Bella
Swan (Kristen Stewart), and her mysterious classmate, Edward Cullen (Robert
Pattinson).
Following the roots of our vampire, we find out that Edward
is member of an adopted family of so-called “vegetarian vampires.” No, they do
not suck plants for a living, but they do refuse to drink human blood.
Therefore, they turn to animals’ vital liquid.
Carlisle Cullen (Peter Facinelli), the patriarch, was
transformed into a vampire during the 17th century and, in order to
save young people from passing away, he turned them into blood-sucking
creatures as well. Edward is one of these… beings, who study at the Forks High School
in Washington,
where they try to isolate themselves as much as possible, at least until Edward
meets Bella and they begin their bizarre romance.
Nevertheless, the young woman gets in trouble when she
becomes the target of three vampires who prefer their traditional human blood
meal, especially if humans are protected by other vampires. Thus, Edward has to
save his belle from the sharp teeth of James (Cam Gigandet) and his gang.
Since the “Twilight” franchise, which follows in the
footsteps of the “Harry Potter” mania, benefits from one of the most passionate
fan bases in the world, a box office success should come as no surprise.
Teenage girls everywhere have fallen in love with the vampiresque love story,
so there should be no impediment in “Twilight’s” road to even broader
popularity.
