Stars including Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz have signed on to play in Summit Entertainment’s upcoming vampire horror adaptation, "Twilight."
Facinelli ("Riding In Cars with Boys," "Damages"), Reaser ("The Family Stone") and Rathbone ("The O.C") have been cast as vampires opposite the two main characters, Robert Pattinson ("Harry Potter") and Kristen Stewart, who are already onboard, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Directed by Catherine Hardwicke, the movie will revolve around 17-year-old Bella Swan, played by Stewart, who is drawn to one of her classmates, Edward Cullen, after moving to a small town to live with her father. She later finds out he and his family are all vampires.
The project, based on the first installment of Stephenie Meyer's popular young-adult book which sold more than 5 million copies worldwide and spawned two sequels, "New Moon" and "Eclipse," is a potential franchise for Summit, which has all underlying rights to the characters for potential sequels.
The movie, which is being produced by Karen Rosenfelt, Greg Mooradian and Wyck Godfrey, is scheduled to start shooting this month in Washington and wrap ahead of a potential actor's strike. The movie is set for a 2008 release, and it potentially represents one of the new label’s biggest projects so far.
