The National Hurricane center in Miami informs that the tropical depression known as Nana lost its strength over the Atlantic Ocean but another tropical depression is forming and this one might transform in the next 48 hours in a tropical storm.
This new tropical depression is the 15th of this year’s season and if it will transcend to the rank of tropical storm, meteorologists will name the storm Omar. The newly formed tropical depression has its center located at about 340 miles southwest of San Juan, Puerto Rico and is moving northwest with a speed of approximately 2 mph.
As the new tropical depression is growing, Nana, former tropical storm, current tropical depression is expected to completely fade away. For precautionary reasons a special Air Force aircraft was scheduled to overlook the situation from above providing valuable information to be analyzed. Meteorologists predict that if Omar is born, it will not affect the Gulf of Mexico and it will continue to move northwest to Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and, ultimately, entering the Atlantic Ocean.
A storm hitting the Gulf of Mexico would indeed be a major problem for everybody as the gulf is rich in oil, oil which has become so precious these days. In order for the course of the storm to be predicted in the most efficient way, meteorologists will need all the information they need. The hurricane season started on July 1st and will end on November 30th but this doesn’t necessarily mean that the storms will definitely stop. There is nothing more unpredictable than the weather and off-season storms have occurred in the past.
