The US National Hurricane Center issued a warning that low pressure system in the Atlantic has the potential to become a tropical storm during the next couple of days, if it reaches the Gulf of Mexico.
The low pressure system is currently East of the Gulf in the Northern Atlantic, and is characterized by thunderstorms and showers. It moves West or West-Northwest at a speed of 10 Mph and according to the NHC it has the potential to transform into a subtropical or tropical cyclone over the next two days.
The NHC also named the potential storm Noel and warned that out of six predictive models, four indicate that the system will indeed cross the Gulf. Noel should reach the borders of Louisiana and Texas within the next few days.
The US National Hurricane Center also said that tropical cyclone formation is not expected elsewhere during the course of the next 48 hours.
