The upcoming comedy Tropic Thunder” which opens on August 13 features some notorious names like Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. The film takes place in the jungles of Vietnam, where a not so very talented director is trying to make a war action movie.

Because things don’t go as planned and he looses control, he drops the actors somewhere in the jungle with the script in their hands. He tells them there are cameras everywhere, gives them a map, and abandons them to survive the jungle.

The one calling the shots is the one and only Tom Cruise who is said to give an incredible performance. In the film Cruise plays a computer geek who financially sustains the Vietnam War action movie.

Talking about Cruise, Downey Jr. stated the following: “He’s a very good, excellent dancer,” Robert Downey Jr. told “Access Hollywood’s” Nancy O’Dell of Cruise’s performance.

Jack Black plays the character of a comic actor named Jeff ‘Fats’ Portnoy, who is known for playing in films that revolve regarding flatulence. He spends half the movie strapped to the back of a water buffalo.

Robert Downey Jr. plays Kirk Lazarus, a tough Australian actor who undergoes a medical procedure to turn his skin dark so that he can be more credible in his performance as an African American soldier. He also gives up his accent for the part.

Ben Stiller, who also directed the movie, plays Tug Speedman, an action star trying desperately to save what’s left of his career after several inappropriate attempts to become a serious actor.
