Former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker has been released
after nearly ten days spent in a Georgia burn center following the
tragic airplane crash of Sept. 20. The only other survivor, DJ AM, meanwhile
attended the funeral service for the unfortunate victims.
Travis Barker and DJ AM, real name Adam Michael Goldstein,
were the sole survivors of a tragic airplane crash that occurred Sept. 20 in Columbia, South
Carolina. They had boarded a Learjet 60 headed to Van Nuys, California,
after performing at a free college event.
The other four persons on board all died, pilot Sarah
Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, Calif.
and co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, Calif.;
and two members of Barker’s entourage, security guard Charles Still, 25, of Los
Angeles; and personal assistant Chris Baker, 29, also of Los
Angeles.
Barker, 32, and Goldstein, 35, were taken to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center
at Doctors’ Hospital in Augusta,
Georgia. They
suffered severe burns, Barker on his torso and lower body, Goldstein on his
arms and a portion of his head.
Hospital officials said at the time that both men were in
critical but stable condition and were expected to have a full recovery from
the second- and third-degree burns.
Goldstein was released last Friday, while Barker was
released Monday morning. The celebrity disc jockey was in Los Angeles Monday morning, where he attended
a funeral for Chris Baker.
Barker meanwhile is headed to another hospital in Los Angeles, reports
People magazine, quoting an anonymous source. The drummer is reportedly still
in bad shape and requires further medical attention.
He is fortunately not alone in this ordeal, as former wife
Shanna Moakler has been by his side from the moment he was hospitalized. The
two are parents to son Landon Asher and daughter Alabama Luella.
Barker and Goldstein perform together under the name
TRVSDJ-AM.
Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board have
said their investigation suggests a tire blowout caused the crash.
