Several companies have announced that they will introduce or that they are making tests to see if they can introduce WiFi Internet access on the airplanes that form their fleet. The announcement is one that certainly pleases tech-savvy airplane passengers.
For some people, surfing the Internet has become a thing that they cannot live without for long, either because of their work or for entertainment purposes. These people are the ones that have made airports the most popular hot spots in the country. Allowing these passengers to continue their Internet browsing experience while on-flight, seems to be the logical step that airlines could have took.
Experts believe that the decision will bring airlines millions and millions of dollars, provided that they will charge for these services. This is good news for these companies, which have suffered a lot over the last period of time because of the increase in oil price. Their decisions of increasing ticket prices as well as charging for extra-luggage and increasing the price for the snacks and drinks that are served during the flights have turned this industry in the one that most people complain of.
Delta Airlines has already announced that it will introduce the new service on all of its planes and that it will do the same for the aircrafts that are part of Northwest Airlines' fleet, provided that authorities approve the merger of the two companies.
Delta said that it will charge about $10 for WiFi services on flights that last up to three hours, and about $13 for the ones on longer flights.
