Anton Dunn, 42, from New York was arrested for posting a deceiving video on You Tube in which he claimed he had poisoned millions of bottles of Gerber baby food with cyanide and rat poison because he wanted to kill babies. Apparently his main targets were black and Hispanic children.

Prosecutors at Manhattan federal court explained that Anton Dunn, who called himself “Trashman”, claimed that Gerber employees acting under his direction had poisoned the baby food.

Nestle Nutrition, which owns Gerber, said it believed the Internet postings were a "malicious hoax" and the company was cooperating with authorities. It’s a terrible thing to happen as "the safety of Gerber and Nestle Nutrition products is our top priority," said David Mortazavi from Nestle.

“Trashman” created three videos claiming that the baby food had been severely poisoned. In one of these videos Dunn, filming himself from inside a shower stall, claims that his "plan is in motion" and that four babies had already died.

Prosecutors assure the population that Gerber had not found any evidence that its product had been interfered with. Dunn was charged with making threats and falsely claiming to have tampered with food products.

Still the company was assaulted with complaints after people saw the videos, the FDA said.

The first video was posted on You Tube in April 2008. A Gerber representative alerted the authorities about this and Food and Drug Administration investigators identified two other threatening videos quite soon. On July 24, similar videos appeared on the Web sites Worldstarhiphop.com and Mediatakeout.com.
