Toshiba Issues A Recall Of Portable DVD players

After receiving two reports about overheating issues affecting its portable DVD players Toshiba issued a recall of the AC adapters labeled ADPV16 that were sold along with DVD player SD-P1600.

Though, no injuries were reported due to the overheating problems. The portable DVD players were sold in US from January 2005 until April 2006. The price of SD-P1600 was abo$216.

The AC adapters were manufactured in China. According to Toshiba’s statement, the recall involves about 142,000 units and the company advised its customers to stop using the adapters.

Last year, Toshiba recalled 340,000 notebook batteries made by Sony after the Japanese company said that 9,6 million of its batteries could catch fire

In July and August this year Toshiba recalled around 11,000 notebooks that were powered also by Sony’s batteries.
