It seems that the “90210” remake won’t have the same team
members, as Tori Spelling announced that she would not take part in the remake.
According to The Associated Press, CW spokesman Paul McGuire said that, even
though it was expected that the actress will star in the new 90210, she made a
change of plans and will not play, once again, the Beverly Hills boutique owner Donna Martin.
“Earlier in the summer we anticipated that she was going to
appear in the show, but those plans were postponed for personal reasons on Ms.
Spelling's behalf, “said Paul McGuire. Megan Prophet confirmed that Tori
Spelling would not be part of the new series.
It’s not sure if the “personal reasons” were related to
financial reasons, as the actress found out that her other colleagues Jenny
Garth who plays Kelly Taylor and Shannon Doherty who plays Brenda Walsh would
be paid from $35,000 to $50,000 per episode. Tori Spelling would have been paid
from $10,000 to $20,000.
The new remake of the famous Beverly Hills 90210 TV series
was commissioned by U.S.
network CW. The original series began in 1990 and ended in 2000, starring Jason
Priestley as Brandon Walsh, Luke Perry as Dylan McKay, Shannen Doherty as
Brenda Walsh, Jennie Garth as Kelly Taylor and Tori Spelling as Donna Martin.
The network confirmed that Jennie Garth would play Kelly
once again. Now, Kelly Taylor has become a guidance counselor.
90210 will premiere on September 2 in the U.S.
