Apple has recently gone through a pretty radical change
involving its management, as the inventor of the iPod, Tony Fadell, retreated
from his position of vice-president of the iPod Division at the famous company.
Fadell’s wife Danielle Lambert, vice-president of Human Resources, will also
leave her position at the end of the year.
The official reason for the two
departures is that the married couple needs to devote more time to their
children and personal lives. Tony Fadell won’t be leaving Apple completely as
he will be CEO Steve Job’s personal advisor. On the other hand, Apple will
certainly miss Fadell’s ideas and good management.
Apple has already named another to fill in Tony Fadell’s position and that
person is none other than IBM veteran Mark Papermaster, who will run the iPod
and iPhone Division. Papermaster comes to Apple after he spent 25 years with
IBM, another strong company in the field of computers. Mark Papermaster’s
experience will certainly come in handy in the iPod and iPhone division, as
clients are demanding new functionalities for the devices. Papermaster will
report directly to Steve Jobs, who is currently the CEO of Apple. Mark
Papermaster has degrees in Science in Electrical Engineering, from the University of Texas,
and Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Vermont.
On the other hand, IBM has already filed a lawsuit against Apple because of the
hiring of Mark Papermaster, claiming the entire affair is illegal as it
violates a non-compete agreement. All in all, though Apple has lost the
inventor of the iPod, the company gained another experienced man that will
certainly be able to bring further innovation to Apple products.
