"Little Miss Sunshine" star Toni Collette revealed on Monday that she and her husband, musician Dave Galafassi, are expecting their first child together.

When she was asked if she was pregnant, Collette replied "Yes I am. We’re very happy. We are completely over the moon.
 
"It is strange the last three films I’ve done I have been pregnant. I’m just like, what is the universe trying to tell me? But I think everything happens when it’s meant to."

Collette, who married Galafassi in January 2003, did not say what stage her pregnancy was at but rumors have been spreading that the 34-year-old actress is 19 weeks pregnant, after she was seen recently leaving a prominent northern Sydney clinic.

Earlier this year Toni had said: "I want children in another year or so. I don't know what kind of mother I'll be. It's a big responsibility and I'm really scared because I don't want to mess this child up! I'll try to instill good values and do my best to encourage my children to be themselves.

"When I do get pregnant I want to take time off and be really present because those early years are so important."

On Saturday, the Academy-award nominee showed off her singing skills during a performance with her band "The Finish" at the opening of the Australian Live Earth concert in Sydney.

"That was such an amazing day,'' she said.

"I was nervous leading up to it. I was having the pounding heart and the churning stomach, and then as soon as I got there I just calmed down.

"But it's an amazing feeling to stand up there in front of so many people, especially knowing why everyone was there.''
