Singer and actress Toni Braxton had a benign tumor removed from her breast. The 41-year-old songbird underwent surgery to remove the tumor a week after the “Dancing with the Stars” season finale Nov. 25.
In an interview with US Magazine, Braxton confessed that she was very worried about what the doctors might find. The singer underwent a routine checkup in August and that’s when doctors discovered the lump but weren’t alarmed by it. The singer was told that she could continue filming “Dancing with the Stars.” However, she got the boot from the show on October 21, she went to the hospital again and this time the medical staff decided that it would be better to remove the tumor.
“I was very fortunate,” she said. “Cancer knows no race, no creed, no color.”
Braxton described her elimination from the show as “a blessing in disguise.”
According to several media reports, Braxton actually knew that she had a growth in her breast before starting to compete on “Dancing with the Stars” but she continued after finding out that it might be a benign tumor, the Grammy-winning singer’s representative David Brokaw said.
Anyway, Braxton is a fighter. She also competed on "Dancing with the Stars" although she was dealing with a heart condition (microvascular angina) which causes poor functioning of blood vessels and breathing problems.
Braxton, famous for her "Un-Break My Heart" and "Another Sad Love Song," is reportedly preparing for the upcoming "Dancing With the Stars" tour which kicks off Dec. 17 in San Diego.
