The Motley Crue rocker, Tommy Lee, was the passenger of a helicopter which was forced to land at Los Angeles' Van Nuys airport by officers who noticed that the pilot was flying erratically. The incident happened around 10.45 a.m. yesterday. Not only was the helicopter flying without direction, but Police reportedly noticed it flying underneath and too close to a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) chopper which was assisting firefighters, according to LAPD spokeswoman Karen Smith.
The high-flying duo was forced to land at the closest airport where Lee's pilot was taken in to the LAPD's Van Nuys station, questioned, given a breath test and released without charge, due to lack of evidence. The man’s identity has not been immediately revealed. As for Tommy Lee, it was considered that he had nothing to do with the situation because he was only a passenger. He was immediately released.
Despite the fact that things seem pretty clear at this point, the FAA will still conduct an investigation.
The 46-year-old Motley Crue drummer admitted on various occasions that he was a huge fan of flying and in order to prove that, last year he set a new world record by getting a tattoo while 45,000 feet in the air by tattoo artist Mario Barth, who inked a large peacock on the rocker’s skin.
Tommy Lee was born on the 3rd ofOctober 1962. He became a musician and founding member of heavy metal band Mötley Crüe as its drummer. Lee also founded rap-metal band Methods of Mayhem, and has pursued solo musical projects. He was married to actresses Heather Locklear, and Pamela Anderson, with whom he has two children.
